Passenger Reservations

Passenger and Pet reservations are not available. Since our tickets are valid for one year from purchase date, we operate on a 'First Come, First Served' basis. We recommend that passengers arrive at least one hour prior to boat departure. This will allow time to check in your luggage and freight as well as purchase passenger tickets and parking permit. The trip to Beaver Island takes a little over 2 hours to complete the 32 mile route. Passengers must be on board 10 minutes prior to departure.

Please note that if you have a reservation to bring your vehicle on the ferry, your check in time is 90 minutes prior to boat departure.

  • New Unaccompanied Passenger Vehicle Policy

    Applies during Peak season only.

Due to congestion at our dock facilities, additional work involved for vehicle undocking, the increasing number of unaccompanied vehicles, and for the safety of our passengers, we have instituted an unaccompanied vehicle fee for the 2017 PEAK season. The fee is $25.00 each way that a vehicle ships unaccompanied.

In Charlevoix we share the Round Lake area with many fellow businesses. The Charlevoix Municipal Docks, Boat Charter companies, and other downtown business all require space for their customers, delivery trucks and marina patrons. Customers returning from the Island also return to the dock area after retrieving their cars. The increased congestion from unaccompanied vehicles remaining in the dock area after the boat departs has made transit thru this area sometimes very difficult and has become an issue. We work as quickly as possible to clean up the congestion so that it is clear for our customers and our business partners in the area. It often takes us extra time to find unaccompanied vehicle owners or the party picking up the vehicle to facilitate the clearing of this loading and unloading area.  Due to the additional work involved and the increasing number of unaccompanied vehicles, we have instituted an unaccompanied vehicle fee for the 2017 peak season in an effort to decrease the congestion in this area.

On the Island, Commercial customers coming to pick up freight often have a difficult time negotiating thru a large number of customers coming and going to the Island. Unaccompanied vehicles can block the exit gates and add substantially to the congestion on the dock.

    In Summary:

If you are shipping your vehicle unaccompanied to or from the Island you will incur an unaccompanied vehicle charge of $25.00 each way during the peak season.

You will not be charged the unaccompanied vehicle fee if:

Your vehicle is on stand-by and you purchase passenger tickets at the time you check in your vehicle you will not be charged the unaccompanied vehicle fee.

You pre-purchased tickets, present them to the ticket agent prior to checking in your vehicle.  You will not be charged the unaccompanied vehicle fee if you are traveling on the same boat as your vehicle or your vehicle is on stand-by.

All passenger type vehicles and small commercial vehicles such as service vans or trucks will be charged the fee if they are shipped unaccompanied and you are not utilizing the Ferry for Passenger travel.

Motorcycles over 350CC must be accompanied and tied down by owner.

The person accompanying the vehicle must be the person whose name the vehicle was reserved under and be of legal driving age.

    Fee does not apply to:
